About This Event

PASOR presents our annual Medical Awareness Program — a vital community health initiative dedicated to educating and empowering our families to take charge of their well-being. The South Asian community faces unique health challenges, including higher risks for diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. This program brings top medical professionals directly to our community to address these concerns and provide actionable guidance. What to Expect: Expert presentations from Pakistani American physicians, specialists, and healthcare professionals covering topics critical to our community's health — including diabetes prevention, heart health, mental wellness, women's health, and pediatric care. Free health screenings and consultations, giving attendees the opportunity to check blood pressure, blood sugar levels, BMI, and other key health indicators in a comfortable community setting. Interactive workshops on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications tailored to South Asian dietary habits and cultural practices. Learn how to make healthier versions of the foods we love. A dedicated mental health segment addressing stress, anxiety, depression, and the importance of seeking help — breaking the stigma that often prevents our community members from accessing mental health resources. Children's health corner with information for parents on vaccinations, developmental milestones, nutrition for growing children, and managing common childhood illnesses. Resource tables with information on health insurance options, local clinics, prescription assistance programs, and preventive care services available in the Rochester area. Your health is your greatest asset. This program is designed to give you the knowledge and resources you need to live a healthier, longer, and more fulfilling life. Bring the whole family! Date in December to be announced. Location: Islamic Center of Rochester (ICR).
